VBF Operations : Shift Leader (12 hours shift (9:00 am : 9:30 pm or 9:00 pm : 9:30 am), 6 month rotation Day / Night)
The role of Associate Director/Operational Coach at Mercks Durham facility is similar to a Manufacturing Supervisor role. The individual in this role provides leadership, cross:functional development and technical expertise to operations and administrative support personnel in various stages of team development in the manufacturing of Durham live virus vaccine products. Responsible for operations teams, process equipment and all activities affecting them. Maximizes the potential of all team members. Fosters an environment that allows for progressive, continuous improvement of skills and honest, open feedback. Ensures team members have tools available to them to accomplish the teams mission statement.
Employee Development/People Management
: Coaches Bio:Process Technicians in an Empowered Culture.
: Assists the team with development of objectives and ensures alignment with site goals.
: Assesses employee training/development needs, assesses the maturity of the team, and adjusts leadership style to enhance team performance.
Line Performance
: Manages coaches and technicians in the Sterile Supply, Cell, Virus and PSF areas to meet supply and profit plans in according to company, federal and other countries compliance standards.
: Develops people through talent management, inclusion, empowerment.
: Develops and foster a safety culture in the operating units.
: Troubleshoots equipment problems, identifies need for new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment to optimize throughput and reduce process cycle times.
: Maintains qualification on all applicable equipment.
: Facilitates focus on continuous improvement activities.
: Oversees coordination of resources to implement suggestions/ideas of merit.
: Manages adherence to Merck Production System (MPS) metrics, design standards and performance utilizing downtime tracking, MOE, SMED, and other available tools.
: Oversees coordination of preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance and plant shutdown activities.
: Participates in Event Management and Renewal.
: Performs special projects as assigned by Manager.
: Leads tier 1 and 2 meetings.
: Manages the shop floor execution for end to end of the Varicella Bulk processes.
Information Transfer
: Attends departmental and team meetings focused on equipment/process improvement.
: Serves as operations representative for technical group discussions.
: Participates in Daily Walk Through of IPT (Integrated Process Team), and in plant tours as needed.
Compliance
: Provides input review and approval for atypical , observation, and process capability investigations.
: Completes bulk accountability investigations.
: Reviews and approves safety investigations.
: Participates in internal and external audits and inspections.
: Identifies quality:related trends and facilitates implementation of corrective actions.
Financial
: Participates in development of profit plan and EAs.
: Reviews and oversees charges.
